Thermal Solutions Ltd was created in 2004 with the aim to design, engineer, manage and install refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment in a professional and personalised manner. Today, Thermal Solutions has hundreds of clients in a variety of industries.

As it’s their goal to exceed clients’ expectations, Thermal Solutions installed Navman Wireless Tracking and Navigation in early 2008 in order to better control costs and ensure their servicemen get to their jobs as quickly as possible.

Thermal Solutions has Navman Wireless installed in all 15 of their service vehicles.

Quicker Response to Time-Critical Jobs

Paul Evans, one of Thermal Solutions’ Directors, says, “Because we’re dealing with refrigeration, time is always of the essence. For instance, we look after Healthcare Logistics’ refrigerated pharmaceutical warehouse. It’s our job to ensure the nation’s vaccines are at the correct temperature 24 hours a day. If a service call comes in, Navman Wireless helps us get to Healthcare Logistics fast. We pinpoint the nearest vehicle on the OnlineAVL 2, then send the job message to the M-Nav which also navigates the vehicle by the quickest possible route.”

Service and Technical Manager, Mike Jenner, adds, “We work between Wellsford and Pukekohe and sometimes it’s not always who’s closest that’s important, it’s the serviceman who’s best for the job. Navman Wireless lets us see where everyone is at all times so we can schedule each job efficiently.”

Recently, Mr Evans got a call from a client who had a gas leak in their main chiller. By looking at the OnlineAVL 2, Mr Evans saw that a serviceman was very close to the client. He instantly sent the message to the M-Nav and the serviceman was there in 4 minutes - while Mr Evans was still on the phone with the client. This efficiency saved the client $1,500 in gas and kept that gas from escaping into the environment. “We couldn’t have been there so quickly without Navman Wireless. The client was amazed,” states Mr Evans.

Higher Levels of Customer Service

“Before Navman Wireless, we had to guess where our vehicles were and we had to make a lot of phone calls. Now we can make courtesy calls to clients, telling them exactly where the serviceman is and when he’ll most likely arrive at their site. They appreciate this new level of service,” explains Receptionist, Ashleigh Christie, who has the OnlineAVL 2 on her computer.

Thermal Solutions has set up Geofences around their suppliers so they can even tell a client, ‘They’ve just picked up the part and they’re on their way to you now’. Mr Evans says, “This visibility is really impressive to our customers. Our clients expect us to attend to their jobs quickly and with Navman Wireless, we can.”

Time and Fuel Savings

When Thermal Solutions first installed Navman Wireless in their vehicles, there were a few negative reactions from their servicemen but now the team really appreciates it. “Navman Wireless has helped streamline our guys’ work days,” states Mr Jenner. “We don’t have to hassle them with phone calls to find out where they are. We can even schedule their jobs so they don’t have to come into the office every morning for their job sheet or so they can visit their last site on the way home.”

With rising fuel costs, it’s important that Thermal Solutions vehicles travel the most efficient route and are used only for work purposes. With Navman Wireless on board extra personal usage is down, helping to reduce fuel costs.
